Dear Flea medicine, Thank you for killing fleas on dogs

Letter by a 15 month old German Shepherd to Generic Frontline Plus thanking for all the help through the flea infections.

Dear Flea Medicine,

I came to this house around a year back and now I am a part of the family. I was very young then and knew nothing. I came to this house last year as a Christmas gift for this girl who now is responsible to look after me. The first two months went confused as I was new to the surroundings. As I got familiar, I started running around, exploring things. I used to wag my tail in delight whenever the girl used to come to me. I am very protective about her. Whenever she goes out, I bark at all the strangers who are around.

Around six months back, we both went to the nearby park to play. We had a lot of fun. As we returned home, I felt very uneasy. I started biting my rear. She thought I was still in a playful mood and ignored. The next morning when she woke up and came to fill my milk bowl, she screamed. My body had large red bumps spread across the body. I was acting lunatic, I was barking and yelping. I was trying to tell them that something is irritating me a lot. It was those tiny blood thirsty pests and I wanted to kill fleas.

The girl immediately started examining my coat and found some dark spots moving around. She called her parents and a couple of friends, When they arrived; they suggested a professional should have a look at it.

When we went to the vet, he said that it was a flea infection and prescribed this flea medication for dogs. It was the best thing that happened to me as it started to show its effects. Not only did it get rid of adult fleas but it also worked upon the fleas in the carpet.  I had quick relief otherwise it would have been very difficult.

I came across the fleas after nearly four months but you saved me again.

Thank you
Sincerely yours,
Molly,

Frontline Plus comes to the rescue your pets from fleas and ticks

Fleas and ticks are a common problem globally. Frontline Plus is one of the top flea medicines. Here are some good to know the facts.

As the fleas get to their work of sucking the blood out of our pets, we need to be prepared for their invasion. Fleas are known to act at a very fast rate and if we don’t match their pace, the pet will suffer from bigger problems in the future.

Luckily, there are people out there who are working round the clock to help us fight fleas. Frontline Plus is a time tested anti-flea treatment that has been topping the charts for a long time now.

Let us get an insight of what the product is all about.

  • This flea medicine is designed in such a way that it works at every stage of the life cycle of the flea. Only getting rid of adult fleas is not sufficient as there may an army of baby fleas at various stages in their life who are getting ready to attack.
  • It also takes care of ticks and the diseases spread by it. Most common problems like the Lyme diseases can be curbed at the initial stage itself.
  • Frontline contains chemicals that adversely affect the growth in fleas. Major chemicals involve fipronil and methoprene. The former mixes with the glands that secret oil and is thus spread throughout the pet’s body. It continues to be released even at a later time thus getting rid of any fleas still alive in the pet’s fur. The latter restricts the growth of flea eggs, pupae or larvae and they cannot grow any further and as a result they are killed. Both the chemicals have been continuously tested and have shown no major side effects.
  •  It is being made taking into consideration the age, size and breed of your pet and can be used in the pet’s as young as 8 weeks.  Even the pregnant, lactating or breeding pets can it be used upon.

So whether it is fleas on dogs or cats, Frontline has always been in the front line to rescue pets from fleas and ticks.

Why not to ignore fleas

As the fleas are so tiny in size, the biggest mistake a pet owner would do is to take them for granted, but they are far more dangerous than they seem. Here is why not to ignore them…

It is very easy to ignore fleas, because they tiny. They can grow up to 3mm on an average. Only 5% of the total flea population affecting your pet is visible on your pet’s body so an inexperienced pet owner can easily overlook them.

So in case of a flea infestation why don’t get to see all the fleas?

The reason being only adult fleas are seen on their host’s body while others which are still in infant stage are hidden somewhere. They could be present anywhere under the carpet, sofas, and door mats or in the dark corners or cracks where we normally don’t go.

Fleas can multiply at a rapid speed, as one set of fleas can turn into an army of fleas in some days itself. Along with the pests that are present and visible in the pet’s fur, the ones which are in hideout should be taken care of as well.

Ignoring the fleas that are not visible can be perhaps the biggest mistake under dog grooming. As dog grooming does not mean only taking care of physical appearance but also its health. Dog Fleas are a major concern for pet’s health as they can be related to multiple health issues. It can also turn fatal if not acted upon faster.

What are fleas capable of?

Fleas are capable of numerous skin ailments in pets.

- Flea allergy dermatitis is the most common. As the flea bites, its saliva mixes with the mutt’s blood and the infection can spread throughout the body. As these primarily feed on blood, with each bite, they can spread the infection and if it is not treated, can make your canine very restless and sick.

- Tapeworms can also be transmitted through fleas.

- Some dogs also suffer from Haemobartonellosis caused due to flea bites and can lose weight fast due to loss of appetite.

Depending upon the magnitude of the infestation both natural and topical flea treatments can be utilized to put an end to their terror.

Keeping the house clean when pets are around

If your pet does not have his own dog-house, chances are that you might have to run after your pet to keep the house clean. Here is why to do it…

Cleanliness is inborn quality which everyone possesses. How much to clean is dependent on individual perception. Some people clean once a day, some clean once a week while some would always carry a duster when at home. If you have pets, then your frequency to clean will be higher as the pets would naturally be messier than their masters. So a pet owner has to practice patience when raising a pet.

Some of the things to be looked after are:

  • Vacuum clean the house regularly to clear any fallen hair as it could lead to respiratory problems. It should be done every week if not possible every day.  It also helps to get rid of any flea and tick eggs which are lying on the floor or the carpet.
  • Use a room freshener to eliminate any animal smell in the house. Always keep the room well ventilated to avoid any clogging of smells.
  • Train the pet to housebreak when it wants to do its personal stuff. The pet would be more receptive to this training if it is trained at the puppy stage itself. Assign a place for it to relieve itself. Housebreaking is good for them both physically and psychologically as they know where to go when they want to answer to the nature’s call.
  • Use cleaning agents which are not very harsh on their skin as some agents may include certain toxins. Store all of it in a secure place away from their reach.
  • You may also keep a door mat at the entrance of the door for it to wipe off any dirt or dust particles that it is carrying from outside.
  • Give it a nice wash periodically to avoid any foreign bodies from settling on their fur and eventually into your house. You may use a flea medication like the frontline spray to avoid any fleas from lingering around on their body or anywhere in the house.

Animals stay healthy if their surroundings are clean. If they have newborns who mostly do all their activities in their resting area, their mother would continuously clean up after they are done. As a responsible pet owner our duty is to give our pets the same clean environment.
