Frontline Plus and Frontline Spot On both are chemical pesticides manufactured by Merial. These both are widely accepted flea medication by thousands of pet vet. These are available for dogs and cats for prevention and treatment of flea and ticks. These possess ability to kill all types of flea including deer tick.

Both Frontline Plus and FrontlineSpot On attack on the life cycle of fleas and kills them. They give 30 days complete protection with each application. These give waterproof protection also. These has ability to kill flea within 24 hours but they have slight differences in doses.

Frontline Plus:
Frontline Plus contains two active ingredients Fipronil and s-methoprene. Fipronil is an insecticide kills adult fleas but not flea eggs. S-methoprene is an insect growth regulator. These both attacks on all stages of flea life cycle. Frontline Plus for dogs and cats contains 9.8% of Fipronil whereas S-methoprene concentration is 8.8 %. Frontline Plus for cats contain 11.8 %.

Frontline Spot On:
Frontline Spot On contains only one active ingredient Fipronil. This is the most effective economical product for all flea and tick prevention. Frontline Spot On for dogs and cats contains 9.7% Fipronil. The drawback of using spot on is it do not kill flea eggs and larvae. This is less expensive medicine.

These products are generally safe if used as per instructions. It is safe and effective in puppies and kittens of 8 weeks old, can be used in nursing, breeding and pregnant females.  These are available as over the counter product in every pet store.
